The absence of diversity in soccer organisations is part of the problem in handling racism, ” says senior Manchester City leader Vincent Kompany.
Kompany made the point while playing Inter Milan after Belgium compatriot Romelu Lukaku was abused by Cagliari lovers.
Lukaku said the match is”going backwards” in the wake of this abuse.
“Romelu is a casualty of something not just in football, but in society,” said Kompany.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Anderlecht boss added:”It goes to who is predicted to make a decision on these issues, and it’s in these organisations the problems lie.
“The real racism can be found in the fact that none of those institutions have agents that could really understand what Romelu is going through.
“You are dealing with a bunch of people and decision makers who are telling him he must feel and think about this when you have no decision makers that are remotely connected with what he’s experienced in his life.
“That is the true issue, in case you go via the planks in Uefa or Fifa, the Olympic League or the English League, there’s a true lack of diversity.
“If you do not have diversity in areas of power such as boardrooms then you can not have the right choices concerning sanctions – it is a simple as this.”
As he scored a punishment in a 2-1 success because of his side’s winner lukaku, who moved from Manchester United to Inter was exposed to monkey chants.
A bunch of Inter Milan fans assert Cagliari supporters were revealing Lukaku a form of”esteem” and the abuse was gamesmanship.
