Kaumarbhritya is one of the eight important branches of Ayurveda. Ayurved & Modern aspect of paediatric behaviour & health was covered in this branch of Ayurveda Activities by Kaumarbhritya department Suvarna prashan sanskar is one of the 16 essential rituals described in ayurveda for children. Definition : The process in which Suvarna bhasma (purified ash of gold) is administered with fortified ghee prepared with herbal extracts, and honey in liquid or semisolid form.

Department of Shalya Tantra is situated in the “Dhanvantri Bhavan” of Faculty of Ayurveda, J.D. Medical College & Hospital, Aligarh. Total area of department is approximate 7000 Sq. Feet. The Department of Shalya Tantra initially in the name of Shalya- Shalakya was started in the 2003 with a view to impart Postgraduate teaching/ training and conduct higher research activities. Till that time, Shalya was not considered as independent subject for Ayurvedic studies in any Ayurvedic college. Beside there was no any facility for the postgraduate studies in this subject in the country. Shalya has been almost forgotten branch of Ayurveda so far as their education and practices at the Institutional level is concerned until it was revived in the form of department at J.D. Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital, Aligarh. The department has made substantial contributions in the fields of Ano-Rectal Diseases, Wound Management, Urinary Disorders and Fracture Healing. The personalities of highest order of academic excellence like Pro. P.J. Deshpande, Dr. P.S. Shankaran, Prof. L.M. Singh, Dr. S.N. Pathak, Dr. S.B. Pande, Prof. K.R. Sharma and Prof. G.C. Prasad have served this department.

The department of Kayachikitsa is the major clinical department of Rhishikul state P.G. Ayurvedic college, situated in first floor of Dhanvantari Bhavan. Department possess its own departmental library and separate chambers for professor, reader, lecturers and P.G. scholars. Department of kayachikitsa runs well equipped I.P.D. for male /female patients separately and three parallel O.P.Ds two of which are for general Ayurvedic Internal Medicine (k.c. O.P.D.-1 & 2) and one O.P.D. is providing services for Geriatric health care. Kayachikitsa department is upgraded with three years postgraduate course MD(Ay) for four seats from 1st Nov 2012. Department of kayachikitsa is essentially concerned with undergraduate and postgraduate education and clinical training with gross Ayurvedic and essential modern medicine knowledge along with clinical research and patient care in the area of Ayurvedic Internal Medicine and Manas Roga (Ayurvedic Psychiatry). Kayachikitsa department also provides education and training to Ayurvedic nursing students. Regular C.M.E. and R.O.T.P. programs are conducted by the department as allotted by department of AYUSH for medical officers and teachers respectively.
